Diwali box office clash for Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi', Salman Khan's 'Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai' and Varun Dhawan's 'Coolie No. 1'?
This Diwali, there is going to be fireworks at the box office, at least according to the latest reports doing the rounds. As a result of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, filmmakers of big-ticket films including Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi', Salman Khan's 'Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai' and Varun Dhawan's 'Coolie No. 1' were forced to push back the release of their films.
The big summer releases were postponed indefinitely owing to theatres shutting down and now trade experts are predicting that the films could now just be eyeing a big Diwali festival release. Even though the festival is months away and there are plenty other extended weekends to cash in on, trade gurus believe that the rather "uncertain" circumstances have forced makers to opt for a later and more feasible date.
While reports claim that there are enough theatres to release three big-budget films, considering the losses many in the industry have already incurred, it has been reported that trade analysts are rooting for not more than two festive releases.
Amidst the pandemic forcing the closure of the film industry, reports claimed that producers and the leading production companies will come together to slot out a tentative calendar for film releases. Although there will be a few clashes, makers are hopeful that their projects will be given a free run at the ticket windows.
As far as these three films are concerned, 'Coolie No. 1' and 'Sooryavanshi' are all ready for a release. However, Salman Khan has a portion of 'Radhe' that will be shot once the lockdown is lifted.
