Bholaa box office collection Day 10: Ajay Devgn's action-drama inches close to Rs 70 crore
Bholaa box office collection Day 10: Ajay Devgn's film continues to enthrall audiences in theatres as the film earned Rs 4.25 crore on its second Saturday, taking the total to Rs 67.53 crore.
After earning Rs 59.68 crore in its first week, Ajay Devgn's Bholaa continues to attract viewers to theatres. The film earned Rs 3.60 crore on Friday and as per early estimates, minted Rs 3.90 crore on Saturday, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. This brings the 10 day total to Rs 67.39 crore. "After getting a boost on [second] Fri due to #GoodFriday holiday, #Bholaa witnesses limited growth on [second] Sat... [Week 2] Fri 3.51 cr, Sat 3.90 cr. Total: ? 67.39 cr. #India biz. Biz at a glance... ?? Week 1: ? 59.98 cr [8 days] #BoxOffice," he wrote.
A remake of the Tamil hit Kaithi, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film was released in 3D and 2D, and as per reports, the latter version is working better for viewers. Bholaa is the third-highest opener of the year after Pathaan, which made Rs 57 crore on its first day, and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which minted Rs 15.73 crore on the first day. The film opened to a modest Rs 11.2 crore on Thursday (March 30), which happened to be a holiday.
Bholaa is Ajay's fourth film as director, after U Me Aur Hum, Shivaay, and Runway 34. None of those films managed to do well at the box office. And even though Bholaa is showing a stronghold at the BO, it is still not pulling crowds like Ajay's last film, Drishyam 2, which made more than Rs 340 crore worldwide. Bholaa will, however, have a clear path until Salman Khan's Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan arrives on April 21. However, Ramadan and IPL are said to have had an effect on numbers, especially in the mass pockets.
In fact, Ajay's output during the pandemic has been pretty much a case of more misses than hits. His first major release, Bhuj: The Pride of India went straight to Disney+ Hotstar, and both Runway 34 and Thank God tanked. Drishyam 2 was the only bright spot; the film emerged as one of the few Bollywood hits of last year and defied expectations at the box office. He also made his series debut with Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, a remake of the hit British series Luther, and appeared in an extended cameo in the Oscar-winning Telugu film RRR. Next up, Ajay will star in the long-delayed sports drama Maidaan, and then return to fan-favourite Singham's next chapter.
Bholaa also stars Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Gajraj Rao, among others.
