Alpha New Release Date Announced
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's much-awaited action film Alpha has been postponed. The YRF Spy Universe movie, also starring Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, will now release next year after delays related to its visual effects work.
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari headlined Alpha has been postponed. Earlier slated to release on December 25, the YRF Spy Universe film will now be arriving in theatres next year. Alpha also features Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles and marks Alia's entry into the much talked about spy-verse.
Alpha gets new release date - here's why
Yash Raj Films confirmed that Alpha will now hit the big screen on April 17, 2026. The production house stated that the decision has been taken owing to the pending VFX work as they want to present Alpha in its visually best shape.
"Alpha is an extremely special film for us and we want to present the film in its most cinematic self. We have realised that the VFX will take a little longer than what we had initially assumed. We want to leave no stone unturned to make Alpha into a theatrical experience for everyone to cherish. Thus, we will now release the film on April 17, 2026," a YRF spokesperson said.
Trade reviews YRF's decision to postpone Alpha
Dismissing the speculation that Alpha has been pushed back in order to get a safer release window since December and January are packed with releases, a top trade source called the move by YRF 'fair'. "Alpha team wants to put out the best film for audiences to enjoy. It is a fair move by YRF. This was brewing as the VFX team was under a lot of pressure with regards to timelines which was seeming unrealistic," the source said.
It added, "So, the push of release date is due to this only and not because of the current cluttered release window from Avatar to the end of January 2026. There is significant work pending and that’s why Alpha is releasing in April and not February."
Alia's first film with YRF, Alpha will feature her and Sharvari take on Bobby Deol in the next brutal chapter of YRF Spy Universe. It is being directed by Shiv Rawail.
