Alia Bhatt and Sharvari turn up the heat in 'Alpha' trailer; even sceptics are taking notice
When the teaser of Alpha dropped a few weeks ago, the reactions were divided. While some were intrigued by the idea of a female-led entry into the YRF Spy Universe, others questioned whether the film could deliver the scale, intensity and swagger associated with the franchise.
The trailer seems to have answered a lot of those questions.
Clocking in at just over two and a half minutes, Alpha arrives with the kind of confidence that demands attention. Packed with slick action, larger-than-life visuals, punchy one-liners and an unapologetically massy energy, the trailer positions Alia Bhatt and Sharvari at the centre of a world that has traditionally been dominated by male action stars.
And going by the early reactions, many of the same viewers who had reservations after the teaser are now finding themselves pleasantly surprised.
Alia appears to be stepping into completely new territory, embracing a full-blown action avatar with conviction. Whether she's delivering dialogue or throwing punches, there's a visible intensity to her performance that has become one of the trailer's biggest talking points. Sharvari, meanwhile, matches the energy frame for frame, bringing a fierce screen presence that suggests she is far more than a supporting player in this story.
What works particularly well is the chemistry between the two leads. Rather than competing for attention, they seem to feed off each other's energy, creating a dynamic that feels fresh within the spy-action genre.
Social media reactions have been largely enthusiastic. Fans have praised the action choreography, the scale of the film and the pairing of Alia and Sharvari, with many calling it one of the most exciting trailers from the YRF Spy Universe in recent times.
One fan wrote, "Alia Bhatt in beast mode. What a trailer," while another commented, "Two powerful women, one epic film. Can't wait for Alpha."
Another reaction read, "The duo of Alia and Sharvari brings great energy to the screen. The trailer is packed with action, style and suspense."
Of course, a great trailer doesn't always guarantee a great film. But what Alpha has managed to do is reignite curiosity and shift the conversation. For a film that faced its share of scepticism after the teaser, that's already a significant win.
As for the critics and armchair experts who were quick to write it off? Many of them may be finding themselves quietly eating their words today.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol and is set to hit theatres on July 3, 2026.
